Here’s a directory of Pokemon sites from the 90s/00s that are still around today. denotes that the site has been remade into modern web standards. Other sites still have their 90s/00s look.
Azure Heights – Research and battle site for Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Stadium era. Had an active forum and detailed information on competitive Pokemon.
EAGB.net – Website covering reviews of Gameboy games from that area in addition to some Pokemon coverage.
Pikapics – This charming Y2K site was a repository for pictures of Pikachu. The webmaster started the site with his brother and revived the site again in its full 90s glory.
Pokemon Factory – Popular ROM hacking and sprite creation community from the early 2000s, known for its custom Pokemon designs and extensive sprite tutorials that influenced many early Pokemon fan games.
Poketown – Another Pokemon fan page from the 1990s that is still around even though their poketown.org isn’t.
Psypoke – A comprehensive Pokemon database and community site from the early 2000s, known for its detailed walkthroughs and popular Safari Zone catching guides.
Serebii – Premier source for breaking Pokemon news and detailed game information since 2000, run by Joe Merrick and known for its rapid updates and accuracy.
Smogon – The leading competitive Pokemon battling community since 2004, establishing the main unofficial battle tiers and strategies used by players worldwide.
Ultimate Pokémon Network – Successor to the Universal Pokemon Network and has been up since 2003.
Bulbagarden – One of the longest-running Pokemon fan sites and communities, hosting the Bulbapedia wiki and maintaining active news coverage since 1999.
Marriland – Pokemon fan site started by Devin “Marriland” Connors, famous for its detailed game guides and innovative Nuzlocke challenge tracking tools.
Other
Johto Times – A Pokemon newsletter with interviews of numerous people attached to Pokemon throughout its history. Though my personal favourites are their interviews of webmasters from the 90s/00s and the first era of Pokemania. They regularly feature pictures of the websites from that era as well.
